Hangmans Rock

Map Reference: NU071218

Aspect: West Facing

Approach: 15mins

Six good problems on perfect rock in a great situation easily combined with Hepburn. The landings are a bit hairy chested, so once you start a problem it's a good idea to finish it or you may end up stotting down the hill.

"Today i completed my project on the Hanging Rock above Old Bewick (aka Hangman's Rock), which takes the steep right arête of the front face from a sit start. A desperate sit start leads to a poor seam and pocket on the arête and onto better (but sharp) holds and the top. I have named this "Jeux sans Frontières", grade Font 7c" Chris Graham 9 March 2008
