It would probably be as well to avoid any work on Victoria Cave in the near future after the following communication was received from Sue Hilder, the Chief Officer of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
"Our Archaeologist has expressed outrage about the new bolts that have
appeared at Victoria Cave. It's a Scheduled Ancient Monument and any
damage to it is therefore a criminal offence. I presume we're closing the
door after the horse has bolted (if you'll pardon the pun) on this one,
but if the bolting is not complete can you please advise the local climbers that
no more work can take place on this site."
